Nathalie is from Algonquins of Pikwàkanagàn First Nation (Golden Lake, Ontario). She has worked in the federal government for close to 15 years, having joined Natural Resources Canada in 2016 to lead on Indigenous engagement for the NEB Modernization Initiative as part of Bill C-69 (An Act to enact the Impact Assessment Act and the Canadian Energy Regulator Act, to amend the Navigation Protection Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts). She also served as the Chief of Staff for the re-initiated Phase III consultations for the TMX project. Currently, she is the Director of Policy for the Indigenous Affairs and Reconciliation Sector, where she leads a team responsible for cross-cutting policy within Natural Resources Canada in support of whole-of-government Indigenous policy and the reconciliation agenda. One of her commitments is working to establish the Sector as a centralized Indigenous policy hub and centre of expertise. She has also spent several years on international energy files leading on bilateral relationships with key Asian markets.
